TikTok: Viral Chlorophyll health hack explored – is it safe?

TikTok found a new health hack that everyone is getting on. Users are posting about chlorophyll supplements and how they are amazing. Let’s see how effective they really are.

TikTok is filled with life hacks that you would have never even heard of. Have you ever heard of ingesting chlorophyll before this? We sure haven’t. Let’s see if this TikTok hack is really worth trying.

What is Chlorophyll?

We all know that Chlorophyll is the molecule that absorbs sunlight and uses its energy to synthesize carbohydrates from CO2 and water. This process is known as photosynthesis and it is the basis for sustaining the life processes of all plants.

So plants need chlorophyll to survive but what about humans? Does it help us and does it have side effects? Let’s find out below.

The viral TikTok video

The video posted by @iluvyoungboy388 16 hours ago about chlorophyll has already received 3.2 million views, 886k likes, and thousands of comments.

She has since then uploaded a few more videos answering questions about the consumption of chlorophyll.

It is said to promote general detoxification, clear skin, help with the hormones, etc. But there aren’t any scientific studies that prove that it chlorophyll supplements actually do that.

What is proven however is through the Oregon State University’s Micronutrient Information Center, which states that a semi-synthetic version of chlorophyll called chlorophyllin has most widely been used as a form of “internal deodorant”.

If you drink this, your fecal odor is reduced as well that of wounds. It also helps in healing wounds but to a very limited extent.

There are studies that state that chlorophyll supplements can reduce the pace of certain types of cancer but it only been proven on rats and mice so far.

But there seem to be no side effects to these supplements so you can get on the trend and share your glow (if there is any).
