What is Chinese TikTok?
Chinese TikTok is called Douyin and it is developed by the parent company called Bytedance.
It is the same company that made TikTok although Douyin is specifically made for users in China. You can say that Douyin is the official app in China and a similar app is used everywhere else (except for China) under the brand name of ‘TikTok’.
How is Douyin similar to TikTok?
Douyin is almost identical to TikTok but it also has an additional option – a “wallet” function. With that feature, users can use QR codes to make transactions, buy items, transfer money to other users, etc.
If you are a native in China then you cannot use TikTok but anyone in the world can use the Douyin app.
How to download Douyin on Android
Android users can go the website of Douyin and download the apk version of the app. Choose the one that has the android icon in it. Make sure to translate the page first.

How to get the Chinese TikTok on iOS
For iOS users, Douyin is available in the Play Store itself. Here is the link for easy download.
If that does not work, follow the following steps –
- Open the App Store and go to your profile. You can do so by clicking on the icon on the top right corner of the page.
- Click on your name or your email and go to “Country/Region”.
- Select “China Mainland”.
- Go back in the App Store, search for “Douyin” and download the app.
- Create an account once the installation is complete.
