The Mandela effect is a phenomenon where a large group of people all remember something differently from how it actually happened, TikTok users have been sharing there very own Mandela effect realisations.
The Mandela effect got its name when a lady named Fiona Broome, spoke out about how she remembered former South African President Nelson Mandela dying in the 1980s in prison, although Mandela lived until 2013.
After talking in public Broome realised she was not the only person who thought this had happened, even though it definitely never did, so the name ‘The Mandela Effect’ was born.

This TikTok user @tythecrazyguy explains how some people believe in the conspiracy theory that the reason we have these collective beliefs that aren’t correct is that time travelers exist, and change minor things each time, creating a parallel universe.
This video has 3.1 million likes, so clearly other people are feeling the same as @yolkfather.
She talks about the fact the Wendy’s food logo never had plaits although that is how a lot of people remember her.
This TikTok user @muskoka_mama is losing her mind over this Disney Mandela effect that she can remember so clearly.

This is another video that mentions the robber emoji, do you think it existed?
This TikTok video claims some people remember the popular TV show ‘The Simpsons’ being called ‘The Sampsons’.
What is the science behind the TikTok?
Some doctors have blamed the Mandela effect on a thing called ‘confabulation’.
It is where a person creates a false memory without intending to lie or deceive others.
The person will attempt to fill in gaps in their own memory, many examples of the Mandela effect are close to the original or true memory so, large groups of people may fill in the gaps with something similar and that is how the Mandela effect works.
OR there are hundreds of alternative universes where the Wendy’s logo does have plaits, I guess we will never know.
