History of CapCut
ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, had a video editing app for TikTokers called Jianying. Then an overseas version of the app was launched by Shenzhen Lianmeng technology called the Viamaker.
This app was acquired by ByteDance in 2018 at $300 million and it is now available in four languages – English, Japanese, Korean, and Portugal. Viamaker had identical features to its Chinese Counterpart.
The name of the app was changed to CapCut on 11th December 2020 and it has been the same amazing app ever since.
Does TikTok own CapCut?
CapCut is owned by Bytedance Pte. Ltd. in the category of “Video Players and Editors”. The app was developed by a startup but then it was acquired by Bytedance in 2018.
So TikTok does not own CapCut but the company who owns TikTok also owns CapCut.
CapCut has 4.5 stars rating on Google Play and more than 50 million installs so far. When will you be downloading the app?
