    TikTok’s recent trend has proven to be extremely dangerous as it involves the Choking Challenge and users are now reporting it from the app. TikTok has blocked any content relating to this life-threatening challenge following various incidents.

    What is the TikTok Choking Challenge?

    The TikTok Choking Challenge, also referred to as the Blackout Challenge, has been spiraling social media since nearly two months ago.

    This dangerous challenge dares individuals to attempt to choke themselves until losing consciousness.

    TikTok has now blocked content surrounding the Choking Challenge.

    When the phrase is searched into the app, a statement appears explaining that the topic may be associated with behavior or content that violates TikTok’s guidelines.

    Detrimental effects of the Choking Challenge

    Reports by NBC 12 stated that a 12-year-old boy from Colorado ended up in the hospital, supposedly after taking part in the dangerous Choking Challenge on TikTok.

    According to news outlets, the boy named Joshua Haileyesus was found unconscious in his bathroom by his twin brother on March 22.

    Although it is unclear whether or not the individual was participating in the Choking Challenge, his family stated that they believe he was attempting to choke himself as part of the TikTok challenge.

    The trend also resulted in the death of a 10-year-old girl from Italy.

    How to report the Choking Challenge on TikTok

    Although TikTok has now blocked the Choking Challenge from the platform, keep reading to find out how to report any related content.

    Regarding suicide, self-harm, and dangerous acts, TikTok’s Community Guidelines state that:

    “We do not allow content depicting, promoting, normalizing, or glorifying activities that could lead to suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders.”

    The platform continues to quote:

    “We also do not permit users to share content depicting them partaking in, or encouraging others to partake in, dangerous activities that may lead to serious injury or death.”

    In order to report and block all content surrounding this challenge on TikTok, follow the steps listed below:

    1. First of all, click on the white arrow situated on the right-hand side of the video.
    2. Press the icon that says ‘report’ along with a flag symbol.
    3. As the options show up, select ‘suicide, self-harm, and dangerous acts’.
