Coban Porter, younger brother of the Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr., was arrested on Sunday for involvement in a car accident in Denver.
Coban Porter is a basketball player at the University of Denver. He was arrested on Sunday for being involved in a fatal car crash that happened in South Denver. The 21-year-old has been taken into custody.
The crash involved two vehicles and the driver in the other vehicle died on spot, while the person accompanying him in the passenger seat was injured. A Denver police spokesperson reported, “the investigation revealed that the Defendant was driving at an estimated speed of 50 MPH, EB on E Buchtel Blvd and ran the red light at S University Blvd striking the victim’s vehicle that was traveling NB on S University Blvd.”
He further said that he was not at liberty to provide the arrest report. A spokesperson from the Nuggets team said that Porter had nothing to do with the incident and he was absent from a match happening around the time of the incident due to “personal reasons”.
After being taken into custody, the basketball player was bailed out on a $20000 bond. Before playing for the University of Denver’s basketball program, Coban used to play as a freshman with the pioneers.

Coban has taken a blood-alcohol test. However, the results are still pending. Additionally, a reporter who interviewed Coban at the place of the accident wrote “ The Defendant … displayed bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred and mumbling speech, and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.”
Coban has been missing from the current season due to an injury. He has previously played around 28 games for Denver and managed an average of 11.4 points per game.
