Deepfake A.I. po*n images of the singer Billie Eilish were circulating on people’s For you page on TikTok and gained around 11 million views.
For four days, a photo gallery in a video was circulating and showing up on people’s For you page on TikTok, where the face of the famous singer Billie Eilish was attached to an overly-sexualized body. This video managed to gain around 11 million views and is now removed from the app.
This is not the first time a celebrity’s face has been used for A.I. porn. Previously, overly sexual avatars of Meghan Fox were also widely circulated which led the actress to ask her fans on social media ‘Were everyone’s avatars equally as sexual? Like, why are most of mine naked?’
The TikTok account that shared these images also shared them on its Instagram page. The person behind these also sold the ‘uncensored’ version of these images for $20.
The circulation of such non-consensual images is a huge threat to an individual’s privacy. The fact that Eilish’s images kept on circulating for four days with no action being taken by TikTok is deeply concerning.
TikTok’s algorithm does not see the nature of the content they are pushing forward, which is deeply problematic. These images directly violated TikTok’s community guidelines, but still managed to stay on the platform for days, which is an issue because most TikTok users are young teens and children.
Billie Eilish and TikTok
This issue becomes more problematic given the singer’s relationship with her body, which she has been vocal about in the past. In an interview, the singer said that the reason behind her wearing loose clothing is so people do not judge her body. They can not comment on whether she is too thin or fat, because they can not see her body.
In one of her interviews with BBC, she also said that one of her songs “Your Power” is not only about a man causing her physical and emotional pain, rather it is about many people who have made her feel that way.
