Does the ice hack for weight loss work?

Netizens are currently obsessed with losing weight through a ice hack. But the overarching question is whether this ice hack is healthy.

Weight loss can be a tedious journey. Social media sites are filled with trainers and nutritionists, who give several techniques about how one can speed up losing weight. From a five-bite diet to a baby food diet, people do not shy away from sharing what worked for them.

Currently, an ice hack diet is trending for weight loss. So basically this hack is focused on the relationship between ice and metabolism. Consuming more ice can speed up one’s metabolism, which will consequently lead to burning more calories and thus losing weight.

This way of losing weight does sound quite bizarre. It does not seem plausible to lose weight only by consuming ice. The only plausible way is that an individual follows this hack, alongside maintaining a calorie deficit and physical training.

The drawback of this hack is there is no scientific evidence for it. Moreover, consuming large amounts of ice can cause dental issues, dehydration, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal distress. So even if people are sharing testimonials of how this hack worked for them, this method of losing weight should not be your priority.

The reason why people are drawn to weight loss shortcuts is that healthier ways of losing weight like physical training and eating more fruits and vegetables are expensive. Going to the gym mostly requires you to pay for a membership and a trainer while eating healthy requires you to purchase items that are often overpriced.

More about why you should not do the ice hack for weight loss

The people who are following this method consume ice in a limited quantity throughout the day. So even if you intend to follow this method do not consume huge blocks of ice every day. Additionally, follow a calorie deficit and a physical training routine. The harder your weight loss journey will be, the more real the result will be.

Here are some of the many reasons that prescribing weight loss is harmful:

    1. Intentional weight loss puts the body and brain under a signficant amount of chronic stress. The ensuing allostatic load increases your risk of multiple serious medical conditions.

Weight loss shortcuts never bring real and long-lasting results. They also do not energize your body. Thus, make sure that your end goal is always a healthy body, which will never let you resort to such shortcuts.

Weight loss is not a “positive” side effect of serious illnesses.
And it’s not something to joke about or congratulate.
