North Korean leader Kim Jong-un appears with his daughter in public for the first time at a ballistic missile launch.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un leads a very secretive life. Very little is known about his family. Even when he got married to his wife Ri Sol-ju, the marriage was kept a secret for some time.
The same scenario was with his daughter, where people wondered if she existed or not. The first time her daughter came to the news was in 2013 when Dennis Rodman, a retired American basketball player, visited North Korea.
He mentioned that he had spent some time with “baby Chu-ae”. Since then people have speculated about the existence of this baby. But recently all speculations were cleared when the leader arrived with his oldest daughter Kim Chu-ae at a missile launch event.
Responses to this action by the North Korean leader
People are contemplating the reason why the leader would bring his daughter to such an event, which is also condemned by the United States. Some are saying that maybe Kim Jong-un is having health issues and he wants to show the world his eldest daughter, who might take the seat after he dies.
This won’t be surprising considering Korea does follow dynastic leadership. There is also much speculation going on about the nuclear weapon program, where people are saying that maybe the daughter’s presence signifies that Korea does not intend to stop its making of weapons and future leaders will also continue this activity.
Lastly, bringing in the daughter can also be a way of affirming that the next ruler, whenever the time comes, will be from the ruling family’s bloodline. In any case, there has not been any formal confirmation yet about if the child even was the leader’s daughter.
