    It seems like every day there is a new random TikTok trend that only loyal TikTok users truly understand and the Geronimo trend seems to be the newest one.

    Some trends can seem completely pointless to people who aren’t familiar with the video app.

    The latest trend of this kind seems to be the ‘Geronimo’ trend that has been going viral, as people bleep out the word in a song as if it is a swear word, but why are people doing this?

    TikTok’s Geronimo trend explained

    There is actually a song called Geronimo that was released in 2014 by an Australian indie band called sheppard.

    People on TikTok have been dancing and lip syncing to the song while bleeping out the word ‘Geronimo’ as if it is a bad word.

    The real meaning of geronimo

    The actual definition of geronimo is used to express exhilaration, especially when leaping from a great height or moving at speed, hence why Doctor Who used to say it in the television show when the Tardis began to move.

    The historical man Geronimo was a prominent leader and medicine man from the Bedonkohe band of the Apache tribe.

    He was known for being brave so his name was used as a sign of courage and bravery and U.S soldiers began saying his name when they were in dangerous situations.

    There are many different meanings for the word and TikTok users have taken the opportunity to use it to confuse other people.

    This isn’t the first time a TikTok trend has been confusing and it definitely won’t be the last.
